Ladies, you know I am a firm believer that it is never too late to create the life we want. So what if half of 2019 is behind us, do NOT wait until New Year's to commit to your next set of goals. The time is now. Yes, right now.
In order to smash our goals in the second half of the year we need to do a few things first, so I have put together a list of 5 tips to get you started.
First I want you to identify, re-evaluate, and re-prioritize. Maybe the list of goals you set for 2019 was too aspirational, or maybe it wasn't enough. Maybe these goals made sense at the beginning of the year but as life has undergone some shifts and seasons, and perhaps these goals need to be re-evaluated for how relevant and important they are to you today. What are the most important goals to work on over the next several months? What is most relevant for you today?
It is now time to re-commit. What do you want to achieve in the next 6 months? How do you want to feel? What is the why behind each goal you wrote down? If you achieve these goals how will you feel? How will life be different? What problems would be solved? How would your lifestyle improve? What would the benefits be? Write these down, and be specific.
Next I want you to get serious about setting your new deadlines. Use the end of the year as your final date and work your way backwards; what are the 30-60-90- day milestones you will need to hit in order to reach these goals by the end of the year? Break them down into monthly goals, and we do this by identifying the specific behaviors we would need to engage in monthly to achieve our overall goals. What are they?
Fourth, the micro goals. What needs to shift on a DAILY basis to support meeting your goals? This is where habits play a major role. What are the daily habits that you already engage in to create movement towards your goals and which habits need to change? Identify the specific tweaks to the system that will align with your bigger picture.
Finally, you must reward every win. If you choose not to acknowledge and celebrate your wins, you will lose interest in pursuing your goals. You must positively reinforce your progress each step of the way to keep yourself on track, no matter how small the reward is. The acknowledgement cultivates positive emotions that you will now associate with movement on your goals which will allow you to continue the desire for growth and achievement. Do it!
